Osirus Mitchell (born September 15, 1998) is anAmerican footballwide receiver. He playedcollege football atMississippi State. He signed with theDallas Cowboys of theNational Football League (NFL) as anundrafted free agent following the2021 NFL draft. He had stints with theGreen Bay Packers,Birmingham Stallions andMemphis Showboats of theUnited States Football League (USFL), and theHouston Roughnecks of theXFL. While with the Stallions he was aUSFL champion.
Mitchell grew upSarasota, Florida, and attendedBooker High School. As a senior, he averaged 21.7 yards per catch and had 25 touchdown receptions.[1] Mitchell was rated a three-star recruit but was not recruited heavily initially, as he was not expected to qualify academically to play college football. However, he was able to graduate from high school in the summer after his senior year.[2] He signed to play atMississippi State in June going into his first year over offers fromTexas a&m, Tennessee, South Florida, Minnesota, Central Florida,Wake Forest andIllinois.[3]
Mitchell redshirted his true freshman season.[4] He played in nine games and caught five passes for 51 yards in his redshirt freshman season.[5][6] As a redshirt sophomore, Mitchell led the team with 26 receptions for 427 yards and four touchdowns.[7][8] Mitchell led the Bulldogs with 430 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions in his redshirt junior season.[9][10]
Mitchell caught seven passes 183 yards in two touchdowns in a 44–34 victory in the first game of his redshirt senior over the defending national champion,LSU.[11][12] He finished the season with 47 receptions for 505 yards and four touchdowns.[13]

Mitchell signed with theDallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent on May 14, 2021.[16] He was waived on August 31, 2021, and re-signed to the practice squad the next day.[17][18] He was released on December 20.[19]
Mitchell was selected in the 15th round of the2022 USFL draft by theBirmingham Stallions.[20] He was named a starter at wide receiver, making 23 receptions for 333 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 4 catches for 64 yards and a receiving touchdown against theNew Orleans Breakers in the playoffs, helped propel the Stallions to a victory.
On July 26, 2022, Mitchell signed with theGreen Bay Packers.[21] On August 10, 2022, theGreen Bay Packers released Mitchell.[22] He was placed on injured reserve the next day.[23] On September 19, 2022, Mitchell was waived from injured reserve with an injury settlement.
On February 1, 2023, Mitchell signed with theHouston Roughnecks of theXFL.[24] On February 11, 2023, Mitchell was released during final roster cuts.[25]
On March 30, 2023, Mitchell signed with theMemphis Showboats of theUnited States Football League (USFL).[26] He appeared in 10 games with one start, making 12 receptions for 159 yards. He was not part of the roster after the2024 UFL dispersal draft on January 15, 2024.[27]
