Oroxylin A is anO-methylated flavone, a chemical compound that can be found in the medicinal plantsScutellaria baicalensis[1] andScutellaria lateriflora,[2][3] and theOroxylum indicum tree.[4] It has demonstrated activity as adopamine reuptake inhibitor,[5] and is also anegative allosteric modulator of thebenzodiazepine site of theGABAA receptor.[5][6][7] Oroxylin A has been found to improvememory consolidation in mice by elevatingbrain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in thehippocampus.[8]
