Open o orturned c (majuscule:Ɔ,minuscule:ɔ) is a letter of the extendedLatin alphabet. In theInternational Phonetic Alphabet, it represents theopen-mid back rounded vowel. It is used in the orthographies of manyAfrican languages using theAfrican reference alphabet.
TheYucatec Maya language used Ɔ to transcribe thealveolar ejective affricate[t͡sʼ] consonant in the orthography of the Colonial period. Nowdz ortsʼ is preferred.[1]
