Olivia Britt Trusty (born September 20, 1983) is an American telecommunications policy analyst. She is a commissioner of the United StatesFederal Communications Commission.

Early life and education

Trusty is the daughter of Ellen and Terry Trusty, missionaries forthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[1] She has five sisters and one brother. Her hometown isBaltimore,Maryland. She was a competitive gymnast and earned her high school diploma atBryn Mawr School.[2] She received aBachelors of Arts degree in political science fromUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 2005, and aMaster of Arts in government fromGeorgetown University in 2007.

Career

Trusty worked as a Congressional staffer forRepublican Sen.Roger Wicker and Rep.Bob Latta.[3] As of January 2025, she was policy director on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.[4]

In January 2025, Trusty was nominated as a commissioner of theFederal Communications Commission by PresidentDonald Trump.[3] She was confirmed on June 17, 2025 to fill the remaining term of Jessica Rosenworcel which ended June 30, 2025 and also to a full five-year term beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2030.[5]
