Oberstaufen (Low Alemannic:Schtoufe) is amunicipality in the district ofOberallgäu inBavarian Swabia,Germany, situated on the B 308 road fromLindau toImmenstadt.
It is first mentioned asStoufun in AD 868. Historically inSwabia (Alemannia), it became part ofBavaria in 1805 with thePeace of Pressburg.
As a result of a marketing campaign by the Oberstaufen tourism industry, Oberstaufen became the first German town for whichGoogle Street View was made available on November 2, 2010.[citation needed]
