Oberkirchen is a locality in the municipalitySchmallenberg in theHigh Sauerland District inNorth Rhine-Westphalia,Germany.
The village has 780 inhabitants[1] and lies in the east of the municipality of Schmallenberg at a height of around 442 m. The riverLenne flows through the village. In the village centre theBundesstraße 236 federal road meets theLandesstraße 640. Oberkirchen borders on the villages ofWinkhausen,Niedersorpe, Inderlenne, Vorwald andAlmert. The village used to belong to the municipality of Oberkirchen in Amt Schmallenberg until the end of 1974.
