Oak Ridge is the landform of theGettysburg Battlefield where theEternal Light Peace Memorial was dedicated by PresidentFranklin D. Roosevelt during the1938 Gettysburg reunion. After the July 1, 1863Battle of Oak Ridge, Whitworth rifled cannon fired from the Confederate position on Oak Hill ontoCulp's Hill andCemetery Hill.[1] The ridge has numerousBattle of Gettysburg monuments and the 1895Oak Ridge Observation Tower. In the 1920s, theGettysburg Airport was established in the west slope of the ridge.
