O Mur Apunar Desh[1] (Assamese pronunciation:[omʊɹapʊnaɹdex]) is the state and traditional song ofAssam,India. It was written byLakshminath Bezbarua and thetune was made by Kamala Prasad Agarwala. It was first published in 1909 in anAssamese magazine namedBahi ("flute"). It was adopted as the Assam's state song in 1927 atasom chatrô sônmilôn ("Assam Student Conference") held inTezpur,[2] and was officially adopted by the state government on 15 December 2013.[3][4][5] This song is also used as the anthem of the secessionist,United Liberation Front of Asom, as an anthem for a sovereign Assam.[6]
