ORG-37684 is adrug developed byOrganon, which acts as apotent andselectiveagonist for the5-HT2receptor family, including of theserotonin5-HT2C,5-HT2B, and5-HT2A receptors, in that order of potency.[1][2][3] It hasanorectic effects inanimal studies and has been researched as a potentialweight loss drug for use in humans.[4] ORG-37684 produces thehead-twitch response, a behavioral proxy ofpsychedelic effects, and hence may behallucinogenic in humans.[1] The drug was under development for the treatment ofmajor depressive disorder in the 1990s and early 2000s, and reached thepreclinical research stage, but development was discontinued and it was never marketed.[5][6]
