Nomegestrol (INNTooltip International Nonproprietary Name), also known as19-normegestrol, is asteroidalprogestin which was patented in 1975 but was never marketed.[1][2] It is the parent compound ofnomegestrol acetate, which is marketed as a progestin.[1][2]
Nomegestrol shows relatively lowaffinity for theprogesterone receptor, only about 4% of that ofprogesterone and about 1.6% of that ofnomegestrol acetate in oneassay.[3]
