2022 Pro Wrestling Noah event
NOAH Destination 2022 was aprofessional wrestling event promoted byCyberFight's sub-brandPro Wrestling Noah. It took place on July 16, 2022, inTokyo, Japan, at theNippon Budokan. The event aired onCyberAgent'sAbemaTV online linear television service and CyberFight's streaming serviceWrestle Universe.[2]
The event featured ten matches with three of Noah's fivechampionships on the line. The main event sawKenoh defeatSatoshi Kojima to win theGHC Heavyweight Championship for the second time. Other top matches includedHayata successfully defending theGHC Junior Heavyweight Championship againstSeiki Yoshioka,Sugiura-gun (Hideki Suzuki andTimothy Thatcher) defeating The Tough (Masa Kitamiya andYoshiki Inamura) to win the vacantGHC Tag Team Championship, andKaito Kiyomiya defeatedKeiji Mutoh.[3]
The event featured tenprofessional wrestling matches that resulted from scriptedstorylines, where wrestlers portrayedvillains,heroes, orless distinguishable characters in the scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.[4]
The night started with the eight-man action between Kongo (Hajime Ohara,Hi69,Shuji Kondo andTadasuke) andAtsushi Kotoge,Daisuke Harada,Xtreme Tiger andYo-Hey which solded with the victory of the cardinal team. Next, Anthony Greene,El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.,René Duprée,Simon Gotch and Stallion Rogers successfully overcame the team ofDaiki Inaba,Kazushi Sakuraba, Kinya Okada,Masaaki Mochizuki andShuhei Taniguchi in ten-man tag team action. The third bout portraited the confrontation ofEita andKotaro Suzuki who defeated Stinger'sYoshinari Ogawa andYuya Susumu. In the fourth match,Ninja Mack picked up a victory over Dante Leon. Next,Pro Wrestling Zero1'sMasato Tanaka andRob Van Dam defeatedNosawa Rongai andSuper Crazy. In the sixth match,Go Shiozaki,Kazuyuki Fujita andTakashi Sugiura defeated Kongo'sKatsuhiko Nakajima,Manabu Soya andMasakatsu Funaki. The seventh match sawKaito Kiyomiya defeatingKeiji Mutoh. The match was part of Mutoh's last series of bouts in Noah. Next,Hideki Suzuki andTimothy Thatcher defeatedMasa Kitamiya and Yoshiki Inamura to win the vacantGHC Tag Team Championship after the titles had been relinquished by Kitamiya himself andMichael Elgin the same night, due to the latter not being able to make it to the title defense. In the semi main event,Hayata secured his second consecutive defense of theGHC Junior Heavyweight Championship againstSeiki Yoshioka.[5][6]
In the main event,Kenoh defeatedSatoshi Kojima to win theGHC Heavyweight Championship, and ending theNJPW veteran's reign at only 34 days.[7][8]
