No. 153 Helicopter Unit (Daring Dragons) is equipped withMil Mi-17 helicopters and is based atUdhampur Air Force Station.[2]
During theKargil War, the unit participated in several operations, includingOperation Meghdoot,Operation Pawan,Operation Rakshak, Operation Blizzard, Operation Baruab, Operation Sarpvinash,Operation Rahat, andOperation Safed Sagar.[1] The unit also had the first female aviator in the IAF,Gunjan Saxena.
