Nishat Chunian Limited (Urdu pronunciation:[nɪˈʃaːttʃuːˈnɪ.jən]nih-SHAHT choo-NIH-yuhn) is a Pakistani vertically integratedtextile company based inLahore.[2] It is listed on thePakistan Stock Exchange and is one of the largest textile company of Pakistan.[3]
Nishat Chunian also operates The Linen Company retail stores located in Lahore,Karachi, andIslamabad.[4]
Nishat Chunian was incorporated in 1990 as a spinning mill by Shahzad Saleem, a nephew ofMian Muhammad Mansha, as part ofNishat Group.[5][6] It began commercial operations in March 1991 with a manufacturing facility of 14,400 spindles supplied bySulzer.[7][8] The company was also listed on theKarachi Stock Exchange in 1991.[8]
In 1998, Nishat Chunian established a weaving mill.[5] Two years later, another spinning mill was added.[5]
In 2013, Nishat Chunian acquired Taj Textiles forRs. 350 million.[9]
In 2010, Nishat Chunian established Nishat Chunian Power, a 200MWindependent power producer, which is also listed on thePakistan Stock Exchange.[5][6]
In 2016, Nishat Chunian opened the first store of The Linen Company in Lahore.[6]
In July 2018, Nishat Chunian divested its shareholding in Nishat Chunian Entertainment.[10]
