Nikolaos "Nikos" Vetoulas (Greek: Νικόλαος "Νίκος" Βετούλας; born February 6, 1974, inPatras,Greece) is a retiredGreek professionalbasketball player andcoach. As a player, he was a 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in) tallpoint guard.

Professional career

In his professional playing career, Vetoulas played in the topGreek League with:Apollon Patras,PAOK,Near East,Ionikos N.F.,Aris, andAEK Athens. He won theGreek Cup with Aris in 2004.

He also played in the topItalian League withUdine, and in the topSpanish League withMurcia.

National team career

As a member of the Greek junior national team, Vetoulas played at the1996 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship.[1]

Coaching career

Vetoulas started his coaching career withAris in 2008, as an assistant coach toAndrea Mazzon. From 2010 to 2015, he coachedApollon Patras, where he managed to achievepromotion to thetop-tier levelGreek Basket League, up from the 2nd-tier levelGreek A2 Basket League.

On May 28, 2016, Vetoulas was appointed as thehead coach of theSwiss League club, SAM Massagno Basket, signing a two-year deal.[2] On July 6, 2016, he left the Swiss club, in order to become the head coach of the top-tier level Greek clubPromitheas Patras.[3] On January 30, 2017, Vetoulas was appointed as the head coach of the Greek teamRethymno Cretan Kings.[4] On June 25, 2018, he was appointed as the head coach ofKolossos Rodou.

During the 2020–2021 season, he ledApollon Patras to theGreek 2nd division championship and a promotion to theGreek Basket League after four seasons.[5] Vetoulas stayed with the club until 2023, when he resigned from the team.

On February 7, 2024, Vetoulas was hired fromMaroussi.[6] On October 27, following Maroussi's defeat byPanionios, he resigned his position as team coach.[7]
