Nicholas Gehlfuss is an American actor, known for his role in 2014 as Robbie Pratt in the fourth season of theShowtime family comedy-dramaShameless. In 2015, he started starring as Dr. Will Halstead in theNBC medical dramaChicago Med.

Later that year, Gehlfuss was cast in the NBC medical dramaChicago Med as Dr. Will Halstead. Halstead was first introduced in the police procedural dramaChicago P.D. as the older brother ofJesse Lee Soffer's character Detective Jay Halstead^[1] and afterwards, the dramaChicago Fire's backdoor pilot forChicago Med.^[3]

Gehlfuss was born inCleveland,Ohio and raised inLittle Italy andChesterland, Ohio. He holds aBachelor of Fine Arts fromMarietta College and completed hisMaster of Fine Arts atUniversity of Missouri-Kansas City. He has two younger siblings: Vincent and Jillian.^[4]

On May 13, 2016, Gehlfuss married hotel marketer Lilian Matsuda.^[5]
