Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, formerlyNew York Community Hospital is a 134[1] bed community hospital inBrooklyn, NY that was founded in 1929 by two brothers, both doctors. The hospital has been renamed[2] several times before becoming part ofNew York-Presbyterian Hospital in 1997 and whose affiliation ended in 2016.[3] They more recently partnered withMaimonides Medical Center.[4] The hospital, which was described as "One Address, Many Hospitals" due to changing names,[4] offersKosher meals to patients.[5]
The original medical facility,Madison Park Hospital, was founded in 1929 by Dr. Albert R. Fritz and his brother Dr. J. Dudley Fritz.[2] It was mostly known as a maternity hospital.[4] The hospital was named for the neighborhood. Over a period of time, the name was changed and the hospital underwent more than oneaffiliation.
It began as a 60-bed hospital, subsequently expanded to 134 beds.[4] In 2006 a state agency recommendedmerging this hospital with another;[18] it wasn't done.
The Hospital offers Kosher meals as supervised by the Vaad Harabbanim of the Flatbush Rabbinical Services
