The termNew Athenian School (Greek:Νέα Αθηναϊκή Σχολή), also known as the1880s Generation (Γενιά του 1880) or thePalamian School (Παλαμική Σχολή) after its leading memberKostis Palamas, denotes the literary production inAthens after 1880. It was a reaction against theFirst Athenian School and its main aim was the use ofDemotic Greek instead ofKatharevousa.
