Ian Whates is a Britishspeculative fiction author and editor. In 2006 he launched the independentpublishing house NewCon Press. He lives with his partner Helen in Cambridgeshire.
As of 2009 Whates is currently a director of both theScience Fiction Writers of America (SFWA)[1] and theBritish Science Fiction Association (BSFA).[2] He has had short fiction published inNature,Hub andTQR. In 2007 his short storyThe Gift of Joy was nominated for theBritish Science Fiction Award.[3] Hisspace opera novel, Pelquin's Comet (The Dark Angels Book 1), was published in 2015.
