Nephelis (Ancient Greek:Νεφελίς) was a small town ofancient Cilicia, situated, according toPtolemy,[1] betweenAntioch andAnemurium; but if, as some suppose, it be the same place as theZephelium orZephelion (Ζεφέλιον) mentioned in theStadiasmus Maris Magni,[2] it ought to be looked for betweenSelinus andCelenderis. Near the place was a promontory of the same name, where, according toLivy,[3] the fleet ofAntiochus the Great was stationed, when, after reducing the towns of Cilicia as far as Selinus, he was engaged in the siege ofCoracesium, and where he received the ambassadors of theRhodians.
Its site is tentatively located nearKicikköy,Muzkent, inAsiatic Turkey.[4][5]
