TheStarostin's loach (Troglocobitis starostini) is a species oftroglobiticstone loachendemic toTurkmenistan.[2] It is the only known member of thegenusTroglocobitis, but it has previously been included in the genusNemacheilus. It is the onlycavefish known fromCentral Asia.[3] The speciesEnglishvernacular name andspecific name honour thehydrobiologist I. V. Starostin, who was a researcher of the inland waters of Turkmenistan.[4]
