Mohammad Nazmul Islam (born 21 March 1991), also known asNazmul Apu,[1] is a Bangladeshifirst-class,List A andTwenty20cricketer and former internationalcricketer.[1] Nazmul is a left-handedbatsman and aleft-arm orthodox spinbowler.
Nazmul has played forDhaka Division in theNational Cricket League (NCL). He has represented his country as part of theBangladesh A andunder-23 teams. In theBangladesh Cricket League (BCL), he has played for bothEast Zone andSouth Zone.[2]
In October 2018, Nazmul was named in the squad for theRangpur Riders team, following the draft for the2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League.[3] In November 2019, he was selected to play for theSylhet Thunder in the2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League.[4] In November 2021, he was selected to play for theKandy Warriors following the players' draft for the2021 Lanka Premier League.[5]
In February 2018, Nazmul was added to Bangladesh'sTwenty20 International (T20I) squad for their seriesagainst Sri Lanka.[6] He made his T20I debut for Bangladesh againstSri Lanka on 15 February 2018.[7]
In August 2018, Nazmul was one of twelve debutants to be selected for a 31-man preliminary squad for Bangladesh ahead of the2018 Asia Cup.[8] Later that month, he was named in Bangladesh's fifteen-man squad for the tournament.[9] He made hisOne Day International (ODI) debut for Bangladesh againstAfghanistan on 23 September 2018.[10]
In October 2018, Nazmul was named in Bangladesh'sTest squad for their seriesagainst Zimbabwe.[11] He made his Test debut for Bangladesh againstZimbabwe on 3 November 2018.[12]
On 20 June 2020, Nazmul was reportedly tested positive forCOVID-19 alongside fellow Bangladeshi cricketersMashrafe Mortaza andNafees Iqbal.[13][14][15]
