TheNational Motor Racing Museum (NMRM) is located in the regionalNew South Wales city ofBathurst, approximately 200 km west of Sydney. The museum is situated adjacent to theMount Panorama motor racing circuit at the end of Conrod Straight, close to the city.[1]
The museum's purpose is to display and preserve material relevant to Australia's motor racing history.[2] It exhibits some of Australia's famous modern racing cars, motorcycles and other memorabilia.[1]
In the front of the museum is a memorial, unveiled 8 October 2008, toPeter Brock who won the Mount Panorama race nine times, he died in theTarga West rally event in September 2006. Sculptor Julie Squires created the memorial which depicts Brock standing atop a 1984VK Commodore, the car he drove at theBathurst 1000motor race in 1984.[3][4][5]
