TheNational Italo-Romanian Cultural and Economic Movement (Romanian:Mișcarea Națională Culturală și Economică Italo-Română) orNational Italo-Romanian Fascist Movement (Mișcarea Națională Fascistă Italo-Română) was a short-livedFascist movement active inRomania during the early 1920s.
The movement was formed in 1921 byElena Bacaloglu, a journalist who had an Italian husband at the time, and was an acquaintance ofBenito Mussolini (she had been briefly the wife ofOvid Densusianu). The group deliberately mimickedItalian fascism and stressed the close ethnic bonds between theItalians and theRomanians.[1] The group attracted only around 100 members.[2] The group was based inCluj, where it was initially established.[3] It was wound up in 1923, when it merged with theNational Romanian Fascia to form theNational Fascist Movement.[4]
