TheNational Archives and Records Service is a government service that preserves and manages archival records and heritage of South Africa.[1] It is an institutional network, operating on a centralised and decentralised provincial basis under central government control. The National Archives and Records Service ofSouth Africa was established by passing of the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa Act in 1996.[2] TheNational Film, Video and Sound Archives (NFVSA) is a subdirectorate of it.[3]
