Nathan Darrow (born 1976 or 1977 (age 48–49))[1] is an American actor known for his role as Secret Service agent Edward Meechum inHouse of Cards, John Custer inPreacher, Mick Danzig inBillions, Andrew Madoff inThe Wizard of Lies, and asVictor Fries/Mr. Freeze inGotham.[2]

Early life

Darrow is a native of theKansas City area.[2] After attendingShawnee Mission North High School inOverland Park,Kansas, he earned his bachelor's degree fromUniversity of Evansville and attended graduate school atNew York University.[2]

Career

In 2003, Darrow returned to Kansas City, and performed in productions ofShakespeare's plays, includingRomeo and Juliet andHenry V. In 2006, he played youngWilliam Randolf Hearst in Don Maxwell'sAmbrose Bierce: Civil War Stories, which also starredCampbell Scott andVivian Schilling. A role in a touring production ofRichard III withKevin Spacey led to casting in the role of Meechum, the Underwoods' stoic bodyguard inHouse of Cards. Darrow's role was expanded in Season Two, as the character of Meechum had been well received by critics and audiences.[3] Darrow appeared as Ben Farrell in The Stolen Chair Theatre Company's film noir for the stage,Kill Me Like You Mean It, at the 4th St Theatre in New York City.[4] He appeared at Princeton'sMcCarter Theatre in Rachel Bonds'Five Mile Lake, May 1–31, 2015, directed byEmily Mann. He also starred in the Southern Shakespeare Company's production ofThe Winters Tale in May 2024.

It was announced that Darrow would appear in the second season of the Fox television seriesGotham asVictor Fries/Mr. Freeze.[5]

He has a recurring role in the first season ofBillions, and returns in the third season going onward. He is set to appear in the fourth and final season ofRectify. He also appears as Jesse Custer's father in theAMC television seriesPreacher and as Jonathan Grimm in theNBC seriesThe Blacklist.[6] He playsAndrew Madoff in HBO'sThe Wizard of Lies (2017). He starred in the third season of theABC thrillerQuantico as Felix Pillay.[7]
