Nathan Elijah Johnson (June 19, 1920 – August 24, 2004) was an Americanfootballtackle.
Johnson was born inDale, Illinois in 1920 and attended Benton High School inBenton, Illinois. He played college football atIllinois.[1] He was selected as the most valuable player on the1941 Illinois Fighting Illini football team.[2]
He played professional football in theAll-America Football Conference for theNew York Yankees in 1946 and 1947 and theChicago Rockets/Hornets in 1947 and 1948.[1] He was traded by the Yankees to the Rockets in May 1948 in exchange for fullbackBill Daley.[3] When the AAFC disbanded, he played in theNational Football League for theNew York Yanks in 1950.[4] He appeared in 65 professional football games, 49 of them as a starter.[1]
He died in 2004 inFreeport, Illinois.[1]
