Natalie Paul is an American actress. She has acted in several television shows such asThe Deuce,Smash,The Sinner, andPower. She is best known for playing Doreen Henderson onShow Me a Hero and for her role as Antoinette in the filmCrown Heights.[1][2]

Early life

Paul graduated with a B.A. fromYale University and a MFA from theNew York University Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program.[3] She is ofHaitian descent.[4]

Career

Paul's first series regular was in theYonkers housing dramaShow Me a Hero as the budding community organizer Doreen Henderson.[5][6] Her first film role was inCrown Heights in which she played the female lead.[7][8] The film won several accolades, including the Audience Award at theSundance Film Festival in 2017. Paul earned an NAACP Image Award for her role. Her subsequent series regular role was in the 1970sTimes Square dramaThe Deuce as newspaper reporter Sandra Washington.[9][10][11]

In 2018, Paul had a supporting role in theHBO showRandom Acts of Flyness. In the same year, Paul starred in the formerLifetime thriller seriesYou as Karen Minty.[12]

She also starred in the second season ofThe Sinner onUSA.[13]

Paul has written and directed two short films,Everything Absolutely andSweet Tea.[14]

Awards and nominations

Paul was nominated for a 2018NAACP Image Award forOutstanding Actress in a Motion Picture and won the 2018Black Reel Award for Outstanding Actress for her role inCrown Heights.[15]
