Megono (Javanese:ꦩꦼꦒꦤ,romanized: Mêgana) is aJavanese dish from the region ofCentral Java,Indonesia. Megono originally comes from the regency ofPekalongan on the north coast of Java, and consists of rice topped with chopped youngjackfruit, mixed with grated coconut, along with other spices.[1][2] Nasi megono is usually served withmendoan, a thin fried, half-cooked, starchytempeh.
"Megono" comes from theJavanese wordmergo, meaning "because", andono, meaning "there is".[3]
