Trinity LaShawn Fatu[6] (néeMcCray; born November 30, 1987)[7] is an Americanprofessional wrestler, dancer and actress. As of January 2024[update], she is signed toWWE, where she performs on theRawbrand under thering nameNaomi.

In August 2009, Fatu signed with WWE. She was assigned to its formerdevelopmental territory,Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where she was the inauguralFCW Divas Champion. In August 2010, she competed in the all-femalethird season ofNXT, where she finished in second place. She then made her main roster debut alongsideCameron asThe Funkadactyls in January 2012. From 2014 to 2015, she was an on-screen manager forThe Usos (Jey Uso andJimmy Uso). As a solo competitor, Naomi held theWWE (SmackDown) Women's World Championship three times. WithSasha Banks, she obtained theWWE Women's Tag Team Championship in 2022. A month later, Naomi and Banks received indefinite suspensions from WWE after the two walked out due to a creative dispute. In 2023, Fatu stated she had departed the company and later performed as part ofTotal Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, where she becameTNA Knockouts World Champion. She returned to WWE in January 2024 at theRoyal Rumble event.

Outside of wrestling, Naomi danced for the basketball team theOrlando Magic as well as rapperFlo Rida. She appeared as one of the main cast members of WWE'sreality television seriesTotal Divas from 2013 to 2019 and acted in the 2017 filmThe Marine 5: Battleground.

Early life

Trinity LaShawn McCray[8] was born inSanford, Florida.[9] She graduated fromOviedo High School.[3] Before starting a career in wrestling, she was one of the dancers for the basketball team theOrlando Magic. She also performed as a background dancer for rapperFlo Rida. Her father, Shawn McCray, is a guitarist who played Fatu’ theme music during her entrance atSummerSlam 2025.[5]

Developmental territories (2009–2011)

In August 2009, McCray signed a contract withWWE, where she reported to their then-developmental territoryFlorida Championship Wrestling (FCW).[10] On June 20, 2010, Naomi defeatedSerena Deeb onFCW TV to become the inauguralFCW Divas Champion.[11] On the August 29 episode ofFCW TV, Naomi competed in a match against AJ Lee, where both the Queen of FCW title and the FCW Divas Championship were on the line, which ended in a double count-out.[12] Naomi joined the all-femalethird season ofNXT in 2010, withKelly Kelly as her pro.[13] Naomi debuted on the September 7 episode ofNXT, where she teamed with Kelly to defeatAlicia Fox and fellow rookieMaxine after Naomi pinned Maxine.[14] On the September 21 episode ofNXT, she teamed with Kelly and Jamie Keyes, defeatingLayla,Michelle McCool, andKaitlyn.[15] On the October 26 episode ofNXT, Naomi defeated Maxine in a singles match.[16] On November 30, Naomi lost the competition to Kaitlyn, placing second in the season.[17] On the January 23, 2011, Naomi lost the championship to Lee onFCW TV.[18]

The Funkadactyls (2012–2014)

On January 9, 2012, Naomi made her main roster debut onRaw alongsideCameron asvalets forBrodus Clay, with the duo dubbedThe Funkadactyls.[19] On theTLC pre-show on December 16, Naomi scored a victory in aSanta's Little Helpersbattle royal, earning a match againstDivas ChampionEve Torres later that night, where she lost.[20][21] On the March 15, 2013, episode ofSmackDown, The Funkadactyls were attacked backstage byThe Bella Twins.[22] The Funkadactyls, Clay, andTensai, collectively known as Tons of Funk, were originally set to face Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes andDamien Sandow) and the Bella Twins in an eight-person mixed tag team match atWrestleMania 29, but after the match was cut due to time constraints, it instead took place the following night onRaw, with Tons of Funk coming out victorious.[23]

On the August 26 episode ofRaw, Naomi was ringside for a match betweenNatalya andBrie Bella alongside the cast ofTotal Divas, also including Cameron, Nikki Bella,Eva Marie, andJoJo Offerman, which ended with Divas ChampionAJ Lee coming out and cutting aworked shootpromo directed at the women.[24] On the September 15, Naomi competed against Natalya, Brie Bella, and Lee in afatal four-way match for the Divas Championship atNight of Champions, where Lee retained the title.[25] The cast ofTotal Divas went on to defeat Lee, Alicia Fox,Aksana, Kaitlyn,Rosa Mendes,Tamina Snuka, andSummer Rae in atraditional elimination tag team match atSurvivor Series.[26] On December 15 atTLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, Naomi, Cameron and Tensai abandoned Clay due to his attitude.[27]

In February 2014, Naomi suffered alegitimate displaced fracture of theorbital bone during a match against Aksana onRaw.[28][29] She returned on the March 17 episode ofRaw, teaming with Cameron to defeat Lee and Snuka in a tag team match.[30] On April 6 atWrestleMania XXX, Naomi competed in theVickie Guerrero Invitational match for the Lee's Divas Championship, where Lee successfully retained her title.[31] AtMoney in the Bank, Naomi lost to the new Divas ChampionPaige in a title match.[32] On the July 7 episode ofRaw, Naomi and Cameron lost to Lee and Paige in a tag team match, which caused a brawl to ensue between Cameron and Naomi.[33] Naomi and Cameron faced off on theBattleground pre-show, during which the former lost.[34] Naomi went on to secure a victory over Cameron on the September 15 episode ofRaw.[35] AtSurvivor Series, Naomi participated in a traditional elimination tag team match, where she eliminated Cameron and eventually Paige to get the win for her team in a clean sweep.[36]

In December 2014, Naomi became involved withThe Usos' feud withThe Miz, which involved The Miz offering to help further Naomi's musical career, much to her husband Jimmy Uso's dismay.[37][38] On the December 16 episode ofSuper SmackDown, Naomi competed againstNikki Bella for the Divas Championship, where she lost the match after Jimmy Uso caused a distraction due to his anger of The Miz being present.[39] After Alicia Fox joined The Miz and Mizdow, Naomi and the Usos competed against the three in a series ofmixed tag team matches, where Naomi's team repeatedly lost.[40][41] On March 29, 2015, she accompanied The Usos during their match on theWrestleMania 31 pre-show, in which they unsuccessfully challenged Kidd and Cesaro for the WWE Tag Team Championship.[42]

Team B.A.D. (2015–2016)

On the April 13 episode ofRaw, Naomi unsuccessfully competed in abattle royal to determine the number one contender to the Divas Championship.[43] After the bout, Naomi attacked Paige for eliminating her to ultimately win the match, turningheel.[44] As Paige had been injured by the attack,[45] Naomi was granted a match against Bella for the title atExtreme Rules,[46] where she failed to win after interference from Brie Bella.[47] In May, Naomi attacked The Bella Twins alongside the returning Tamina.[48] The duo went on to compete in a tag team match against The Bella Twins atPayback, during which Naomi and Tamina won.[49] On the May 18 episode ofRaw, Naomi competed in another championship match against Nikki Bella, where Bella retained the title after Tamina caused a disqualification, and was subsequently followed by Paige's return.[50] Naomi then competed in a triple threat match against Paige and Nikki Bella atElimination Chamber, however once again she failed to capture the title.[51]

On the July 13 episode ofRaw, after weeks of the Divas division being dominated by The Bella Twins and their ally Alicia Fox,Stephanie McMahon called for a "Divas Revolution", subsequently introducing the debutingNXT Women's ChampionSasha Banks to align with Naomi and Tamina, dubbed Team B.A.D., as well asCharlotte Flair andBecky Lynch to align with Paige, leading to a brawl between the three teams.[52][53][54] The three teams faced off in athree team elimination match on August 23 atSummerSlam, which was won by Team PCB.[55] At the 2015Tribute to the Troops in December, Team B.A.D. and Paige defeated Brie Bella, Charlotte, Fox, and Lynch in an eight-woman tag team match.[56] On the February 1, 2016, episode ofRaw, Banks left the team, which caused Naomi and Tamina to attack her.[57] Naomi and Tamina later lost to Banks and Lynch in a tag team match atFastlane.[58] On theWrestleMania 32 pre-show, Naomi and Tamina teamed up withLana,Emma, and Summer Rae in a10-Diva tag team match against Brie Bella, Paige, Fox, Eva Marie, and Natalya, where Naomi's team was defeated.[59] In early May, Naomi became inactive due to a torn ankle tendon.[60]

SmackDown Women's Champion (2016–2017)

Naomi was drafted to theSmackDown brand on July 19 as part of the2016 WWE draft.[61] She then debuted a newgimmick, which included a new look and entrance, dubbed "The Glow", and became aface once again.[62][63] On August 21 atSummerSlam, Naomi competed in a six-woman tag team match alongside Becky Lynch andCarmella against Natalya,Alexa Bliss, and Nikki Bella, where Naomi's team was defeated after Bella pinned Carmella.[64] On September 11 atBacklash, Naomi competed in asix-pack elimination challenge to determine the inauguralSmackDown Women's Champion, where she would eliminate Bliss before being eliminated herself by Natalya.[65] On November 20, Naomi competed as part of the SmackDown women's team against the Raw women's team at theSurvivor Series pay-per-view, where her team lost.[66]

After two months of inactivity, Naomi returned to WWE and would win the SmackDown Women’s championship atElimination Chamber where she defeated Alexa Bliss,[67][6] but the following week vacated the title due to a legitimate injury she sustained during the title match.[68][69] She regained the title when she made her in-ring return atWrestleMania 33 in a six-pack challenge, where she made Bliss submit.[70][71]

On June 18, Naomi defeated Lana to retain the SmackDown Women's Championship atMoney in the Bank.[72] She then went on to retain the title over Lana two more times on the June 27 and July 4 episodes ofSmackDown, the latter of which involved a seven-second submission victory.[73][74] In July, Naomi debuted a customized title belt withLED lights of various colors.[75][74][76] On August 20 atSummerSlam, Naomi dropped the SmackDown Women's Championship to Natalya, ending her reign at 140 days.[77][78] On November 19 atSurvivor Series, Naomi competed in a five-on-five elimination tag team match, where she eliminated Raw team captain Alicia Fox, before being eliminated herself by Sasha Banks, with her team ultimately losing the match.[79]

Various storylines and departure (2018–2022)

In 2018, Naomi competed in the inaugural women'sRoyal Rumble match at thenamesake pay-per-view,[80] won the inauguralWrestleMania Women's Battle Royal atWrestleMania 34,[81] and participated in the first all-women's pay-per-view,Evolution, competing in a women's battle royal match, which was won by Jax.[82] Naomi then entered a feud withMandy Rose after Rose started flirting with her real-life husband,Jimmy Uso, to "ruin Naomi's life", which involved Rose hinting at kissing Uso as well as Naomi attacking Rose in a hotel room to which Rose invited Uso.[83][84] At theRoyal Rumble on January 27, 2019, Naomi and Rose eliminated each other during the women's Royal Rumble match.[85] The two exchanged victories over each other in February.[86][87] That same month, Naomi teamed up with Carmella in a six-teamElimination Chamber match for the inauguralWWE Women's Tag Team Championship at thenamesake pay-per-view, where they were the first team eliminated.[88] During the2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up on April 15, Naomi was drafted to theRawbrand.[89] She unsuccessfully competed in the women's Money in the Bank ladder match at thenamesake pay-per-view the following month.[90]

AtRoyal Rumble on January 26, 2020, Naomi returned from a hiatus by entering the Royal Rumble match at number 18, lasting 22 minutes before being eliminated byShayna Baszler.[91] She later attributed her time away to health issues and a relative's death.[92] The following month, Naomi lost to Bayley in a match for the SmackDown Women's Championship atSuper Showdown.[93] In April atWrestleMania 36, Naomi competed in a five-way elimination match for the same title, during which she was eliminated by Sasha Banks.[94] In September, she underwent surgery to remove afibroid.[95] As part of the2020 WWE Draft in October, Naomi was drafted back to the Raw brand.[96] She returned atRoyal Rumble in January 2021 during the 30-woman Royal Rumble match, entering at number 2, where she was eliminated by Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.[97] She teamed with Lana to compete in atag team turmoil match during the first night ofWrestleMania 37 to determine the No. 1 contenders for the Women's Tag Team Championship, where the duo was defeated.[98] In August 2021, Naomi became part of the SmackDown roster.[99] She subsequently began a feud withSonya Deville, who was an authority figure. The feud developed due to Naomi's persistence in asking for matches, irritating Deville.[100] Naomi and Deville eliminated each other from the Royal Rumble match at thenamesake event in January 2022.[101] Naomi teamed up withRonda Rousey to defeat Deville and Charlotte Flair atElimination Chamber the next month.[102]

On the second night ofWrestleMania 38, Naomi teamed with Sasha Banks to compete in a four-way tag team match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, in which they defeated the respective teams of Liv Morgan andRhea Ripley, Natalya and Shayna Baszler, and titleholders Carmella andQueen Zelina to become the new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.[103] During the May 16 episode ofRaw, Naomi and Banks legitimatelywalked out of the show's venue over a creative dispute after a meeting with CEOVince McMahon.[104] This caused a change to the show's main event that originally involved both women.[104] Naomi and Banks consequently received indefinite suspensions, and the title wasvacated.[105] In March 2023, Naomi stated that she was no longer with WWE.[106]

Impact Wrestling / Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2023–2024)

On April 28, 2023, Fatu made herImpact Wrestling debut during the tapings ofImpact!, which aired ontape delay on May 4, under the ring name Trinity.[107][108] She appeared during a confrontation involving herself,Impact Knockouts World ChampionDeonna Purrazzo, andJordynne Grace, during which she proclaimed her intention to win the title.[108] On May 26 atUnder Siege, Trinity competed in her first pay-per-view match since WrestleMania 38,[109] defeatingGisele Shaw.[110]

AtSlammiversary in July 15, Trinity defeated Purrazzo via submission to win the Impact Knockouts World Championship.[111] On August 27, during the main event ofEmergence, Trinity had her first successful title defense by defeating Purrazzo.[112]atVictory Road, Trinity successfully defended her title againstAlisha Edwards. On October 21, atBound for Glory, Trinity successfully defended her title againstMickie James, in what Trinity described as one of her all-time favorite moments in her career.[113] On November 3 (taped October 27), atTurning Point, Trinity successfully defended her title againstDeonna Purrazzo in aLast Chance match. On December 9, atFinal Resolution, Trinity andJordynne Grace defeatedDeonna Purrazzo andGisele Shaw. Following Bound for Glory, it was announced that Impact Wrestling would be rebranding back to Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling in 2024, therefore the title would become the TNA Knockouts World Championship.[114] After winning theCall Your Shot Gauntlet match, it was announced that Grace would challenge Trinity for the title. On January 13, 2024, atHard To Kill, Trinity lost the TNA Knockouts World Championship to Grace, thus ending her reign at 182 days and marking her first pinfall loss in TNA.[115] On the January 25 episode ofTNA Impact!, Trinity was unsuccessful in regaining the title in a rematch against Grace.[116] Her last match with TNA was a pre-taped match that aired on the February 8 episode of Impact where she tagged with Grace to defeatGisele Shaw andSavannah Evans.[117]

Return to WWE (2024–present)

On January 27, 2024, at theRoyal Rumble pay-per-view, Trinity, once again performing as Naomi, made her return to WWE marking her first appearance within the company in nearly two years as a surprise entrant in the women'sRoyal Rumble match, reprising her "Glow" character. Naomi entered the match at number 2 and lasted one hour and two minutes before being eliminated by the debutingJade Cargill.[118] On February 2, Naomi was officially assigned to theSmackDown brand.[119] Two weeks later Naomi had her first singles match back in WWE, defeatingAlba Fyre to qualify for the women'sElimination Chamber match.[120] On February 24, atElimination Chamber: Perth, Naomi was unsuccessful in the match, being eliminated byTiffany Stratton.[121] On Night 1 ofWrestleMania XL, Naomi teamed with Cargill andBianca Belair, where they defeatedDamage CTRL in a six-woman tag team match.[122]

After defeating Stratton to become number one contender, Naomi facedBayley for theWWE Women's Championship on the April 19 episode ofSmackDown, where Stratton interfered and caused a disqualification.[123] This led to a triple threat match for the title atBacklash, where Naomi was unsuccessful.[124][125] On the June 28 episode ofSmackDown, Naomi defeatedBlair Davenport andIndi Hartwell to qualify for the women'sMoney in the Bank ladder match, though she was unsuccessful at thenamesake event.[126][127] AtSurvivor Series WarGames on November 30, Naomi participated in her firstWarGames match alongside Bayley, Belair,Iyo Sky, andRhea Ripley against Tiffany Stratton,Candice LeRae,Nia Jax, andThe Judgment Day (Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez) in a winning effort.[128]

On the December 20 episode ofSmackDown, Naomi replaced Jade Cargill, who was found attacked (kayfabe) backstage, as Bianca Belair's tag team partner to defend theWWE Women's Tag Team Championship and became officially recognized as champion.[129] At theRoyal Rumble event on February 1, 2025, Naomi competed in thenamesake match entering at #15, eliminatingZoey Stark before being eliminated by Nia Jax.[130] On the February 24 episode ofRaw, Naomi and Belair lost the titles to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez after interference from"Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, ending their reign at 73 days.[131]

Proceed with Caution (2025-present)

On March 1 atElimination Chamber: Toronto, Naomi was due to participate in thenamesake match. At the beginning of the match, however, she was attacked by a returning Jade Cargill, seemingly confirming her as Cargill's attacker.[132] On the March 7 episode ofSmackDown, Naomi confessed to being Cargill's attacker, turningheel for the first time since 2016. During this time, Naomi underwent a character change which included the usage ofcaution tape in her entrance and ring attire.[133][134][135] On the April 4 episode ofSmackDown, General ManagerNick Aldis announced that Naomi would face Cargill atWrestleMania 41,[136] the first non-title women's singles match at aWrestleMania event since2006 and the first without a stipulation.[137] At Night 1 of the event on April 19, Naomi lost to Cargill.[138]

On the May 30 episode ofSmackDown, Naomi defeated Cargill and Jax in atriple threat match to qualify for the women'sMoney in the Bank ladder match.[139] Atthe event on June 7, Naomi won the Money in the Bank contract.[140] AtEvolution on July 13, Naomi lost to Cargill in aNo Holds Barred match with Belair as the special guest referee. Later that night, Naomi successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract onIyo Sky during herWomen's World Championship defense againstRhea Ripley and pinned Sky to win the title for the third time.[141] Following her title win, Naomi was subsequently moved to theRaw brand.[142] At Night 2 ofSummerSlam on August 3, Naomi successfully defended the title against Ripley and Sky in a triple threat match.[143] On the August 18 episode ofRaw, Naomi was forced to vacate the title due to her real-life pregnancy, ending her reign at 36 days.[144]

She made her in-game debut inWWE '13 as anon-player character along with her then-tag team partner Cameron, appearing during Brodus Clay's entrance and winning celebration, as well as inWWE 2K14. She later appeared as a playable character inWWE 2K15,WWE 2K16,WWE 2K17,WWE 2K18,WWE 2K19,WWE 2K20,WWE 2K Battlegrounds,WWE 2K22 andWWE 2K25.[145][146]

Fatu was part of the main cast of the reality television seriesTotal Divas, produced by WWE andE!, which premiered in July 2013.[147] Fatu was not part of the second half of season three that aired January 2015 to March 2015 but returned as a main cast member for season four.[148][149] She did not appear during the show's fifth season but once again returned as a main cast member for the sixth season.[150][151] She then remained on the cast until the ninth and final season.[152]

In May 2014, she released her first single song, entitled "Dance All Night". The accompanying music video was released on WWE'sYouTube channel.[153]

In 2017, she starred in theWWE Studios filmThe Marine 5: Battleground, playing the role of a gang member named Murphy.[154]

Personal life

Trinity and longtime boyfriend Jonathan Fatu, better known by the ring nameJimmy Uso, were married inMaui on January 16, 2014.[156] Through their marriage, she is a member of theAnoaʻi family, a Samoan-American wrestling dynasty.[157] The couple resides inPensacola, Florida.[158] She is the stepmother to Fatu's two children.[159] On August 18, 2025, Trinity announced she was expecting her first child with Fatu.[160]
