Naoise Ó Muirí (born 15 September 1972) is an IrishFine Gael politician who has been aTeachta Dála (TD) for theDublin Bay North constituency since the2024 general election.[1] He served as aDublin City Councillor from June 2004 to November 2024. He previously served asLord Mayor of Dublin from 2012 to 2013.
He was first elected toDublin City Council in the2004 local elections as a member for theClontarf local electoral area and was re-elected in June 2009.[2]
He was an unsuccessful candidate in theDublin North-Central constituency at the2011 general election. He stood again for theDáil at the2016 general election for Fine Gael in the newDublin Bay-North constituency, but was again unsuccessful.[2]
He was electedLord Mayor of Dublin in June 2012 with 32 votes from Fine Gael and theLabour Party, beating the independent councillorMannix Flynn by 6 votes and 11 abstentions.[3][4]
At the2024 general election, Ó Muirí was elected to the34th Dáil. He was subsequently appointed the Cathaoirleach of the Committee on Climate, Environment and Energy.[5]
Ó Muirí is married with three children. He is a member of theInstitution of Engineers of Ireland.
Ó Muirí studied at theNUI Galway. He is a self-employed engineer and runs his own technology company.[6]
