InGreek mythology,Nana[1] (/ˈnnə/ (Ancient Greek:Νάνα) is a daughter of thePhrygianriver-godSangarius, identified with the riverSakarya located in present-dayTurkey.[2]

Mythology

She became pregnant when analmond from an almond tree fell on her lap. The almond tree had sprung from the spot where the hermaphroditicAgdistis was castrated, becomingCybele, the Mother of the Gods.[2]

Nana abandoned the baby boy, who was tended by ahe-goat. The baby,Attis, grew up to become Cybele's consort and lover.[2]
