Namig Yadulla Abdullayev (Azerbaijani:Namiq Abdullayev, born 4 January 1971) is a retiredAzerbaijanifreestyle wrestler, who won the 2000 Summer Olympics gold medal in55 kg, as well as three gold medals at European championships and three silver medals at world championships.[1]
A three-time Olympian, Abdullayev won the silver medal at the1996 Summer Olympics in the52 kg category and the gold in the55 kg weight class at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He also competed at the2004 Summer Olympics, but was eliminated early.
Abdullayev retired in 2009.[2]
He is originally from the village ofAğdərə in theKhizi district.[3]
Abdullayev is married and lives in Baku.[4] He is the brother of world champion wrestlerArif Abdullayev.[1]
