Nahitan Michel Nández Acosta (born 28 December 1995) is a Uruguayan professionalfootballer who plays forSaudi Pro League clubAl-Qadsiah and theUruguay national team. A versatile player, Nández can play as acentral midfielder,right-back,attacking midfielder orwinger.
After starting his career atPeñarol, Nández later played in Argentina forBoca Juniors and in Italy forCagliari. A full international for Uruguay since 2015, he played at the2018 FIFA World Cup and the three editions of theCopa América (2019,2021 and2024).
Born inPunta del Este, Nández is a youth exponent fromPeñarol. On 1 March 2014, he made his first team debut in aUruguayan Primera División game againstDanubio, replacingAntonio Pacheco D'Agosti after 57 minutes in a 0–2 away win.[3]
On 23 August 2017, Nández moved to Argentina'sBoca Juniors on a four-year deal, with the club payingUS$4 million for 60% of his economic rights.[4]
He made his last appearance for Boca Juniors on 31 July 2019 againstClub Athletico Paranaense in a 2–0 home win. He was replaced byEduardo Salvio in the 75th minute.[5]
On 9 August 2019, Nández joined Italian clubCagliari Calcio on a five-year deal,[6] for a fee of US$20 million.[7]
On 24 May 2024, it was reported that Nández would join the recently promotedSaudi Pro League sideAl Qadsiah as a free agent.[8]
Nández was the captain and a key member of theUruguayan team at the2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup played in New Zealand, where he was in the starting eleven for all four of their games.
Nández made hissenior international debut on 8 September 2015, in a 1–0 friendly loss away toCosta Rica at theEstadio Nacional; he replacedDiego Rolan in the 37th minute.[9]
In June 2018 he was named in Uruguay's 23-man squad for the2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.[10] He played in all five of their games as they reached the quarter-finals, starting all but one.[11]
Nández was also called up by managerÓscar Tabárez for the2019 Copa América in Brazil.[12]
