Naddnistrianshchyna (Ukrainian:Наддністрянщина), alsoPodnistrovia,Naddnisteria,Podnistrianshchyna[1] orPodnistria,[2] is aUkrainian ethnographic region located within several present-day oblasts ofwestern Ukraine (Vinnytsia,Lviv,Ivano-Frankivsk,Ternopil,Khmelnytskyi,Chernivtsi) in the upper and middle reaches and basin of theDniester River.
In Ukrainian historiography, the geographical termNaddnistrianshchyna is used to refer to the now Ukrainian territories that were part ofAustria-Hungary – parts of theKingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria and of theDuchy of Bukovina.[3]
