Defunct doughnut shop in the U.S. state of Oregon
NOLA Doughnuts was adoughnut shop with three locations in thePortland metropolitan area , in theU.S. state ofOregon . The original shop opened inLake Oswego in 2015, and a second opened innorthwest Portland 'sPearl District in 2018. A third location opened inBeaverton in 2022. All locations closed in January 2023.
The menu includedbeignets ,café au lait ,fritters ,[ 1] king cake ,[ 2] [ 3] [ 4] la'ssants,milkshakes ,pralines , andice cream sandwiches . The Portland shop hadNew Orleans -style décor and playedjazz .[ 5]
The business was started by Rob Herkes, his sister Connie DeMerell, and third partner Frank Halpin. The trio sold products at the Beaverton Farmers Market before opening abrick and mortar store inLake Oswego in October 2015.[ 6] [ 7]
The business expanded in March 2018, with a second shop innorthwest Portland 'sPearl District .[ 5] [ 8] [ 9] In 2019, NOLA Doughnuts became part of the Underground Donut Tour.[ 10] A third location opened inBeaverton in 2022.[ 11] [ 12]
All three locations closed in January 2023.[ 13] [ 14] An announcement said in part, "The slow rebound from the pandemic and the current economic conditions have led us to make this difficult decision."[ 15]
