NGC 801 is aspiral galaxy with anactive galaxy core[citation needed] in theconstellation Andromeda. It is estimated to be 174 millionlight-years from theMilky Way and has adiameter of approximately 174,400 light-years. The object was discovered on September 20, 1885 by the AmericanastronomerLewis A. Swift.[7][8]
