NGC 6293 is aglobular cluster located in the constellationOphiuchus.[4] ItsShapley–Sawyer Concentration Class is IV.[1] It was discovered by the American astronomerLewis A. Swift on 8 July 1885.[5] Like many other globular clusters, its distance is not well known; it may be anywhere from31000[1] to52000light-years away fromEarth.[6]
