NGC 5705 is aspiral galaxy in theconstellationVirgo. It was discovered on 17 May 1884 byFrench astronomerÉdouard Stephan.[2]
NGC 5705 is part of a small group of spiral galaxies that also includesNGC 5691,NGC 5713, andNGC 5719.[3] It is a member of theNGC 5746 Group of galaxies, itself one of theVirgo III Groups strung out to the east of theVirgo Supercluster of galaxies.[4]
