NGC 5023 is an edge-onspiral galaxy located in the constellationCanes Venatici. It is considered a member of theM51 Group although it is actually relatively isolated from other galaxies.[2] It is approximately 15kiloparsecs (49,000light-years) across and contains more than 200 stars with anapparent magnitude of greater than 23.5.[1]
