NGC 4519 is abarred spiral galaxy located about 70 millionlight-years away[3] in theconstellationVirgo.[4] NGC 4519 was discovered by astronomerWilliam Herschel on April 15, 1784.[5] It has a companion galaxy known asPGC 41706[5] and is a member of theVirgo Cluster.[6]
NGC 4519 has an asymmetric structure that contains a well-defined bar.[7]
