NGC 4313 is an edge-onspiral galaxy located about 50 millionlight-years away[2] in the constellationVirgo. It was discovered by astronomerWilliam Herschel on March 15, 1784.[3] NGC 4313 is a member of theVirgo Cluster[4][5] and is classified asLINER[2][6] and as aSeyfert galaxy.[6]

NGC 4313 has undergoneram-pressure stripping in the past.[7]

Black Hole

[edit]

NGC 4313 may harbor anintermediate-mass black hole with an estimated mass of 200,000 (2*10^5)solar masses.[8]
