NGC 3686 is aspiral galaxy in the constellationLeo. It has twospiral arms and a weak bar.[3]

It forms aquartet with three other spiral galaxies,NGCs 3681,3684, and3691.[6] It was discovered on 14 March 1784 byWilliam Herschel.[7] It is a member of theNGC 3607 Group of galaxies, which is a member of theLeo II Groups, a series of galaxies andgalaxy clusters strung out from the right edge of theVirgo Supercluster.[8]
