NGC 3258 is anelliptical galaxy in theconstellationAntlia.[4] It is a member of theAntlia Cluster, which lies about 40.7megaparsecs (132.7 millionlight-years) away.[5] It was discovered on May 2, 1834 byJohn Herschel.[6]

Onesupernova has been observed in NGC 3258: SN 2010hx (type Ia, mag. 15.3) was discovered by Berto Monard(bio-fr) on 16 September 2010.[7][8]
