NGC 3003 is a nearly edge-onbarred spiral galaxy in theconstellation ofLeo Minor, discovered by William Herschel on December 7, 1785.[4] It has an apparentvisual magnitude of 11.78,[3] at a distance of 19.5Mpc from theSun.[2] It has arecessional velocity of 1474 km/s.[1]
Onesupernova has been observed in NGC 3003: SN 1961F (Type II, mag. 13.1) was discovered byPaul Wild on 21 February 1961.[5][6][7]
