NGC 2552 is aMagellanic spiralgalaxy located some 22[2] millionlight years away. It can be found inconstellation ofLynx. This is a type of unbarreddwarf galaxy, usually with a single spiral arm. It is inclined by 41° to the line of sight from the Earth along aposition angle of 229°.[2] The measured velocity dispersion of the stars in NGC 2552 is relatively low—a mere 19 ± 2km/s.[3] This galaxy forms part of a loose triplet that includesNGC 2541 andNGC 2500, which together belong to theNGC 2841 group.[4]
