NGC 1283 is anelliptical galaxy[2] located about 250 millionlight-years away[3] in the constellationPerseus.[4] The galaxy was discovered by astronomerGuillaume Bigourdan on October 23, 1884[5] and is a member of thePerseus Cluster.[6][5] It also contains anactive galactic nucleus.[7]
