NBA Showtime is apre andpost game studio show that airs before and after eachNBA on NBC telecast. The program, a half-hour in length, aired duringNBC's 12-year run ofNBA coverage from the1990–91 season to the2001–02 season. In 2025, with NBC reacquiring rights to the league, NBC announced that it would revive theNBA Showtime studio show for its coverage; Sunday night editions are instead branded asBasketball Night in America and modeled after itsFootball Night in America pregame show forNBC Sunday Night Football.[1]
NBC announced thatMaria Taylor will host the Tuesday editions ofNBA Showtime andBasketball Night in America.Ahmed Fareed will then host the Monday editions.[1] The network has yet to announce plans during the playoffs.
The network announced that there will be a rotating cast of analysts.[1]
The show was initially hosted byBob Costas. Costas left in the mid-1990s and became leadplay-by-play voice ofThe NBA on NBC in1997.Hannah Storm replaced Costas and hostedShowtime untilAhmad Rashad replaced her as host of the pregame show when Storm went onmaternity leave in2001. Storm returned in2002 which meant that her and Rashad would alternate as hosts throughout the season.
Midway Games created anNBA Showtime arcade game in1999.[2] The game was an update to theNBA Jam series, and used the same opening music and presentation style as the television show.
