Niver Arboleda Díaz (8 December 1967 – 5 October 2011) was a Colombian professionalfootballer who played as aforward forAtlético Nacional,Deportivo Cali,Veracruz,Zacatepec andZhejiang Greentown.
Born inPuerto Tejada, Cauca, Arboleda began playing football at the Carlos Sarmiento Lora School. He turned professional withAtlético Nacional, where he would win the1989 Copa Libertadores. Next, he made 147 league appearances forDeportivo Cali before moving abroad to play forTiburones Rojos de Veracruz in theMexican Primera División. After one season in Veracruz, he played for second division sidesZacatepec andReal Sociedad de Zacatecas. He finished his career playing in Guatemala withAntigua GFC andJuventud Retalteca.[5]
Arboleda also won four caps for theColombia national team with two of them coming in the1995 Copa America.[citation needed]
Arboleda died from a heart attack during a surgical procedure at aGuatemala City hospital at age 43.[6]
