Néstor Enrique Colmenares Uzcategui (born September 5, 1987) is a Venezuelan professionalbasketball player forNacional of theLiga Uruguaya de Básquetbol. He is also a member of the seniorVenezuela National Team.[1] Apower forward, his nickname is "La Bestia" ("The Beast"),[2][3] He is known as a proficientrebounder.
Colmenares playedcollege basketball atIndian Hills C.C. (JUCO), and atCampbellsville (NAIA).[4]
In his pro career, Colmenares has played in both the2nd-tierSouth American League, and the1st-tierFIBA Americas League. He won the2016 FIBA Americas League championship withGuaros de Lara.
On November 5, 2019, Colmenares signed withMaccabi Haifa of theIsraeli Premier League.[5] He averaged 10.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. On August 30, 2020, Colmenares signed withU-BT Cluj-Napoca of theLiga Națională.[6]
With the senior men'sVenezuela national basketball team, Colmenares has played at the following tournaments: the2011 FIBA Americas Championship, the2013 FIBA Americas Championship, the2014 South American Championship, where he won a gold medal, the2015 Pan American Games, the2015 FIBA Americas Championship, where he won a gold medal, the2016 South American Championship, where he won a gold medal, and the2016 Summer Olympics.[7]
