Muyelensaurus (meaning "Muyelen lizard", after an indigenous name for theColorado River in Argentina) is agenus oftitanosauriansauropoddinosaur from theLate Cretaceous ofArgentina. It was more slender than other titanosaurs.[1] Fossils have been recovered in theNeuquén province ofPatagonia and were originally assigned to thePortezuelo Formation but further research showed that these layers belong to thePlottier Formation.[2] Thetype species isM. pecheni.[3] The nameMuyelensaurus first appeared in a 2007 paper byArgentinepaleontologistsJorge Calvo of the Universidad Nacional del Comahue andBernardo González Riga of the Laboratorio de Paleovertebrados, andBrazilian paleontologistJuan Porfiri of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.[1]
